Davis Broadcasting is Georgia’s largest and 36-year-old Black-owned radio network, with stations in Columbus and Atlanta serving predominantly African American and Hispanic audiences with music, culture, community news, and sports. With Pivot funding, Davis hired a digital advertising director who helped generate more than $75,000 in revenue in his first six months (ultimately the effort generated more than $100,000 in new revenue), leveraging the broadcaster’s websites.

In the process, he helped dozens of small, local businesses learn how to use digital ads to expand their reach online.

Davis received funding from Pivot Fund in partnership with Courier Eco Latino, a bilingual news outlet also based in Columbus. It led to a regular newscast on Davis by Courier publisher Wane Hailes, but ultimately Davis did not fully integrate digital sales into its business, and the Courier continued solo as a Pivot grantee in the second year of the grant period.
